Why Arashi is great entertainment even if you are male
I am male. I am as straight as you can get. Hey, I love boobs as much as every man does.
And I love Arashi in a manly, non-homossexual way. Watching their tv shows is one of my favorites forms of entertainment. Somehow, they manage to pull off an incredibly silly act, yet extremelly funny, on every one of their public appearances.
Anyway, let me show you why Arashi is amazing to watch, even if you are not a fangirl who would squeal by a mere glance of one of those guys. Here’s the 3 main reasons why Arashi is awesome and you would make a favor to yourself by watching them:
1. It’s not just a boyband- I hated boybands not so long ago. Well, in a way, I still do. But contrary to the majority of others boybands, Arashi is not just a bunch of guys trying so hard to look badass and totally in love with each other. Actually, what differentiates Arashi is… they fail. They do not try to look cool in every second. Au contraire. Their tv shows are funny because they are not afraid to join comedians in their silly gags, or do some ridiculous cosplay, or even looking like a complete fool before the cameras. All while looking natural, like a bunch of friends just having fun. You can doubt the quality of their songs (I don’t), you can even skip their stupid dance moves (yes, they are weird), but you can’t deny, they are funny.
2. Want some eye candy?-So, you love the female form, and you desperately need to look at some pretty girls in your entertainment, that’s why you watch those piles of idols DVDs and harem animes, right?
Well, let me tell you this: few things attract pretty, famous women like popular guys. And Arashi is just surrounded by gorgeous women in their line of work. Be it at their dramas or tv shows, they co-starred with the best looking japanese celebrities, and while you are laughing from the last Sakurai fail or Aiba stupid comment, you can look at the ones like Oshikiri Moe, Fukada Kyoko, Hoshino Aki, Karina, Aragaki Yui, Toda Erika, and the list goes on and on.
3. Female idol groups sucks anyway-Really, they do. All they can do is act artificially cute and eat food while randomly blabbering “oishii” or something like that. Plus, a female idol gets kicked to the limbo as soon as they turn 20 and stop looking like a kindergarden child.
This is Japan’s sexist policies fault, I know. While a female idol is kicked out of the group if she has a boyfriend, Arashi members can get away even if they smoke pot and make threesomes. That’s Japan for you, but that’s one of the reasons too why Arashi is better than AKB48, Perfume or whatever the otakus are drooling over nowadays.

ARASHI AS AN INSPIRATION FOR HR in Nikkei Bus. JP
"Look at these 5 people, don’t you think these kind of people exist in many working companies as well? The Ohno-kun type, although he seems unreliable usually but he handles properly everything he is entrusted with. The Sakurai-kun type, he might have a tight schedule but still he could make time for planning and preparation so things could go smoothly. The Ninomiya-kun type, although he doesn’t talk much normally but provides good practical ideas. The Matsumoto-kun type, he could make you feel warm and think that perhaps you could become partners as you work. And the Aiba-kun type, one who quickly senses that the atmosphere in the team had gone awkward and immediately cheer things up. Yes, although Arashi is generalized to be herbivorous-type (mild-mannered), no no, each and everyone of them has their own special and distinct personality. What’s different about them from other entertainers since before, is that they do not wear this mask called ‘entertainer’. And they do not particular give off the aura of “I’m different (in a superior sense)”. I can safely say that they do not indulge in self-attention, which is considerably heterogeneous for entertainers."

Arashi is the ideal team management
"The members of other young groups have impressive abilities too,
but Arashi is different in how they use theirs. I think Arashi makes full use of their individual talents for the benefit of the group. In other words, I get the strong feeling that all of them consciously bear in mind that each of their strengths ultimately serve to empower their group to the fullest. I think each of them clearly understands his role in the group, and in their given positions show off their individual abilities, such that 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 is not 5, but becomes 10, even 20. On the other hand, there is a strong feeling of “Me! Me!” among the other young groups. The members’ respective roles in the group are unclear, and it truly feels like they’re not getting to achieve their true potential.
Arashi represents the ideal team management for me.”

The reason why we, mother and daughter, became Arashi fans
Around April of last year, my daughter started to say that Aiba-kun, who appears on a certain animal show, is “cool”.
I was anti-Arashi, and so continued to ignore such declarations by my daughter. And since she never asked me, not even once, to buy her this or that magazine or CD, I figured her interest was merely a passing one.
However, when she saw this particular magazine on display at a store at around October, for the first time ever she wanted so badly to own an idol magazine.Yes. By that time, she has completely become an Arashi fan.
Not only that, her favorite is not Aiba-kun, but Sakurai Sho-kun.
But, as expected of someone who was anti-Arashi, I didn’t take too kindly to this development. Still, I did rent their CDs from the rental shop, but only their albums.
So, the reason why even I myself became an Arashi fan…
At that time, my daughter did not have many friends at school, and it seems that she suffered from some light bullying.
It might also be because of her condition, but when the two of us had a huge argument once, My daughter appealed to me in tears:
"I’ve tried killing myself."
"But, I’ve stopped after becoming an Arashi fan."
She said something like that to me. To be quite honest, I was surprised.
Outwardly she showed no such signs, and was very bright and cheerful.
Certainly she didn’t hang out with friends after school and such, but since I thought our relationship as mother and daughter was going well,
I was honestly shocked by her teary-eyed appeal:
"Mama, you don’t try to understand me."
It was from then on. That I seriously began to consider just what kind of group this Arashi is, that my daughter loves so much.
I carefully read the Arashi books I bought her. I read their articles in magazines. And so “anti” changed to “understanding”, and further transformed to “fan”.
In a sense, this was quite a stunning turn of events for me.
I mean, to be “anti” is to find everything about something wrong and disagreeable.
But when one tries to “understand” it and becomes a “fan”, everything turns to happiness, and one can only look upon it in a positive way.
I think the biggest surprise was my own personal change.
And now we, mother and daughter, are fans of Sakurai Sho-kun, and we’ve been able to collect all of their albums and several of their singles.
We constantly listen to Arashi songs, whether in the house or in the car.
Not only that, we’ve also bought several of their concert DVDs, and watch them while going “kya~ kya~” together.
We also went for the first time to their concert the other day, and have come to spend such a lovely and wonderful time together. ♥♥
